April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, but April didn't want to let go just yet.  It rained EVERY SINGLE DAY this past week...hard rain.  Drenching, pouring, pounding rain.  DEPRESSING!!!  We finally got to see the sunshine yesterday afternoon, but it's cloudy again today.  Rain, rain, go away; come back in August!!!

Do other parts of the country have crazy drivers, or do they all live in Oklahoma?

I was driving to work on Friday, in the rain, and a huge pick-up truck passed me on the expressway.  I was going 70 (yes, 5 mph OVER the speed limit...I was TRYING to be GOOD - and it WAS raining).  He was going AT LEAST 15 mph faster than I was because he passed me like I was sitting still, spraying up a huge rooster tail of water as he went by.  He was also weaving in and out of his lane like he was drunk!  Seriously weaving.  Wildly...across lanes.  There was a police car about 1/4 of a mile in front of me (now you know why I was trying so hard to be good...LOL!) and this pick up truck, totally oblivious, shot up to the police car, had a moment of sudden realization, braked hard, crazily did a death-defying three lane back-and-forth weave, then somehow wound up in the slow lane behind a dump truck going 60.  Hiding out, no doubt.  The police person didn't do a darned thing!  Here I was, trying not to speed too radically, staying in my lane, not weaving across lanes like a crazy person, working hard to be good and this dummy in the pick up truck who is doing all kinds of stuff wrong doesn't even cause the flicker of a red light from the police car!  So I passed him....the police car, that is  What the heck; live dangerously!  But now you know why we have such crazy drivers in Oklahoma...not including me, of course!!  If a person can get away with doing that kind of drunken ballet on the expressway without attracting attention, what does it take???

It's STILL RAINING!!!  And Oklahoma drivers are STILL CRAZY!!!

Tonight on the way home, I was trying to be patient, stuck behind a pokey driver going 35 mph in a 40 mph zone (which, in my view, is insanity...even 40 is SLOW).  They were suddenly losing ground speed at an alarming rate and it seemed as if they were going to stop in the middle of the road...a main arterial street, by the way.  A main arterial street with one lane going in each direction with a turn lane down the middle.  A turn lane for people who were turning left.  So as not to impede traffic.  But here we are, going 30, 25, 20, 15, and I'm beginning to wonder if they are actually having car trouble.  Now, if I was having car trouble, I would either pull over into that turn lane or I would turn right on a minor street and get out of the way.  But whatever was happening with the vehicle in front of me, it seemed they were determined to stay on the main street.  Cars are really piling up behind them by now and they're going 10 mph.  About the time they reached 5 mph, they suddenly turned left...going all the way across the turn lane without ever actually using it as it was intended to be used. Nor did they use their turn indicator.  I know my mouth was hanging open in utter disbelief.  I mean, THERE WAS A FRIGGIN' LEFT HAND TURN LANE RIGHT THERE FOR THEIR CONVENIENCE AND THEY CUT ACROSS IT AS IF IT DIDN'T EVEN EXIST!!!!  What is WRONG with people?????

Then, in my housing addition, there is a big U-Haul type truck that has been parked in front of , but across from, this house for about a week.  It's not parked well.  It's taking up way more road than it should and it's impossible for more than one car at a time to go around it.  Tonight, the idiots in the house where the truck is parked also had their car sitting in the driveway with the whole back half of the car hanging out in the road.  Mind you, the car is sticking out on one side of the road and the truck is blocking the other side.  It was one of those moments when I desperately longed for a tank.  Oh, the satisfaction it would bring to mash both of those vehicles!! Perhaps the rain is getting to me.  Or maybe the rain is fine and it's the people that are getting to me.  I don't know.  All I know for sure is that I can get in out of the rain, but I can't seem to get away from the stupid people!

This one was just too good to keep to myself...had to share it with you!

A little "Maxine" wisdom, just for fun:

This is what it's been looking like in Oklahoma lately:

This particular storm is hovering over the Tulsa International airport.  I work right next door...get to watch private planes and jets take off all day long.  That's my Prelude in the parking lot where I work.

I hate tornado weather.  These are the times I ask myself why I live in Oklahoma!

We have had storms almost every day for the last...seems like FOREVER!  Had another wild one come through today.  I'm sure these storm pictures make you want to visit Oklahoma, don't they?

There was a lot of lightening and rain with this one, but it didn't last too horribly long.  It was uglier than it looks in the picture.  It started raining about 3 seconds after I snapped this picture and I ran for the house.  It got darker as time passed.  But you can get an idea of what was going down.  The sky was NOT happy!

For those of you who want to come visit, I'm thinking about trying to work a "time share" deal.  If you live somewhere really nice (like Hawaii, for example) and, for some unfathomable reason, are thinking about making a trip to TORNADO ALLEY during TORNADO SEASON, wow!  Do I ever have a deal for you!!!
