Unfortunately, July is starting off just like June started off...stormy and rainy. If you're old enough to remember the old "Excedrin Headache #387" commercials, you'll understand when I stay this feels like "Rainy Day #387." It's a headache that just won't stop! And Excedrin won't help! By the way, the whitish specks on the picture are rain drops. Big ones. It's pouring!

The flooding, threatening storms and heavy rains continue. We may get a small break on the 4th.

Don't blink!!! You might miss it! Can you believe we actually have some SUNSHINE this afternoon? I've been outside ever since it cleared up around 5:30, just basking in the glow. I can't believe how long it has been since we have seen the sun for more than a quick peek. The sky is still hazy, but there is real honest-to-goodness blue sky up there!! Just in time for everyone to start shooting off fireworks. At least nothing is going to burn THIS year!
Fortunately, Zoe doesn't seem phased by the popping, booming and whizzing of the fireworks. I'm VERY relieved! Maddie was beyond terrified and the whole 4th holiday was a total nightmare for both of us. Zoe is curious; doesn't seem at all afraid. I may actually get to enjoy the holiday. I hope you and your families do as well!
Everyone is shooting off fireworks, so I am writing this to the accompaniment of miscellaneous bangs, pops and booms. There are thin clouds, but enough sunshine is peeking through to draw me outside. It's nice to have a day off work. In fact, I could get used to working two days, having one off, working two days, having two off...LOL!
But this holiday is special to me because of what it represents...freedom. We are so fortunate to have the freedom we take for granted in America. The people in many countries around the globe are living in war zones where they are oppressed and don't dare to walk outside to enjoy the fleeting sun. The majority of people in a lot of those countries live in poverty and they have no hope of ever escaping. We have so much! Today, I am thankful for the sun...which we have certainly not seen enough of lately. But I am even more thankful for our freedom, our abundance, our many blessings, and for those who sacrificed so we could live the way we do, sitting in the sun in our nice back yards listening to birds sing and firecrackers popping instead of hiding from gunfire.

It wasn't supposed to rain yesterday...and it didn't until the day was almost over. But it DID rain...a lot! And today, there was no rain in the forecast. But I drove home in heavy rain once again; an even that has become the rule rather than the exception. Here are a couple of pictures of some of the big storm clouds I snapped just before another cloudburst. Have I mentioned that I am really SICK of the rain?

We had two big storms last night. It semi-cleared up after the first one (pictured above) dumped its rain and then, a couple of hours later, I began to hear more thunder in the distance. I shut down my computer and unplugged everything just as this huge ominous cloud began to cast a big shadow over my house. It was like a mammoth space ship from outer space hovering over me. Before long, the sky was totally black, but it was actually kind of pretty before the storm clouds swallowed everything else up! The best news is, today we had some sunshine...really bright, warm, no-clouds-in-the-sky sunshine. Ahhhhhh!!!!

I heard today was supposed to be the luckiest day of the century. I don't know about that, but it was a wonderful relief to have sunshine and blue skies all day long.
It wasn't so lucky for me personally. As I was getting gas today, I noticed a bulge on the side of my front driver's side tire. Looks like the steel belts in the radial are broken. The rain has not been kind to our roads and the other day, I hit a huge hole in the expressway on the way home. It was bone-jarring and I fully expected my tires to have been flattened. Guess it broke the steel belts instead. I have a Honda Prelude. It requires low profile, high speed radials. They cost almost $400 each and I'm going to have to get two of them. Don't know where I'm going to get that money! Guess I'm going to have to mark some jewelry down in price!!! Watch the prices...I'm going to be rolling some of them back just like Wal-Mart!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you're getting tired of hearing about it. If you think YOU'RE sick of the weather, you should be ME!!! Here are some pictures from our latest round.

It's beyond words, really. We are still having storms almost every day. Today, we have a reprieve...a small one anyway. Tomorrow, who knows. It's so incredibly ridiculous, I can't even begin to adequately explain.
Here's a big storm cloud moving in. It's so huge, I can't even begin to get it in one picture. We received torrential rain from this storm system.
More of the same. Big cumulus clouds, lightening, thunder, a huge downpour...can't believe how insane all this rain is!
I'm still waiting to win the lottery so I can take a trip to the desert. I need a break!!!

One of the idiots finally got me. I try SO HARD to avoid the idiotic drivers, but this one was tailgating and we came to a dead stop on the expressway. I had no problem stopping because I DON'T TAILGATE!!!! There is a reason why people shouldn't tailgate. It's called COLLISIONS. Potential collisions should make people think twice about doing something so stupid, but this idiot thought he could defy physics, ride my bumper and still stop on a dime. So my beloved Honda Prelude is wrecked and I'm so upset I am beside myself. My neck already hurts, which probably isn't a good sign, but I'm going to see how it feels tomorrow. If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all!
